Inspired Action eNews
"How
do you know if your goal is too big?
Research shows that within 21 days of starting something new, most people will begin to fail or settle for less unless they have a solid plan for success along with external support and accountability. I want you to succeed!
One of the most common questions I get from
audience members and readers is, "How do you
stay enthusiastic and keep taking inspired
action on a project or goal when you don't feel
like taking action or you're overwhelmed with
other things?" TIP 1: Make the goal or action steps smaller, more specific and more inspiring to act on.
|
|
TIP 2: It's not about deserving. It's about appreciating. When you go to the doubtful places, acknowledge where your negative feelings and thoughts (just long enough to make the mind/body connection) and then reframe your thinking. Get grateful for all you are and all you have. Appreciate yourself. Smile for 16 seconds and say this to yourself (into a mirror if possible): "My commitment to myself is to ___________ (name your goal), I am so grateful for __________________ and I appreciate myself for _______________ (find something no matter how small). Keep going until you feel your body relax or you naturally take a deep breath). If you have my book
Living with Enthusiasm,
go back and read |

“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or
the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces
TIP 3: Think
of the rewards that discipline will bring you, then take one positive
action for five minutes. Get dressed in your exercise clothes,
make that one call, write that extra page, or hold off just five more
minutes from that cigarette or donut. Give yourself a healthy reward
(you do have your list of 5 in under 5 minutes, right? Call a friend,
listen to a favorite song, take a mental vacation, read a page of an
inspirational book, visit a travel website and pick out a dream
vacation.) |

All week long I've been hearing different versions of the same message. It works for the new year - it also works when you're feeling overwhelmed.
TIP 4: Go back to basics. Each morning, start your day by writing out on a post-it note or business card in one sentence your top goal for the next 12 months (choose the one that will most affect all the other areas of your life - is it career, health, financial, business, relationships, creative inspiration, or...?)
Make it a pleasant ritual and create positive anticipation. Say to yourself: "Oh, this is going to be so good!" Before you start writing, put a smile on your face, hold it for 16 seconds as you feel the smile move through your body. Start writing and speaking it out loud with a sentence completion such as "I am so excited and grateful that the daily inspired action I take has __________ (describe your dream/goal as if it's already achieved), which has ____________! (describe the benefits you'll receive). By using enthusiastic words and saying them with enthusiasm (even when you don't feel it), you trigger the happy chemicals in your body and keep yourself motivated.
Here are few examples:
"I am so excited and grateful that the daily inspired action I've taken has allowed me to publish online my new self-study course Enthusiasm365, because I've been able to share the attracting power of enthusiasm with over 10,000 people this year and build an online community that supports all of us in giving more of who we are and getting more of what we truly want."
"I am so excited and grateful that the daily inspired action I've taken has allowed me to reach my goal weight of 137 because I fit into my favorite clothes again, my cholesterol level is a healthy 175, and I have more energy."
"I am so excited and grateful that the daily inspired action I've taken has allowed me to vacation with friends in Africa because I've always wanted to travel internationally with friends, see the Masai Mara, Ngorongoro Crater and gorillas in the wild and contribute to ecotourism."
What about you? What's important to you? Take five minutes and go back to basics - write down your dream and experience the good feelings as you're writing. That's the missing ingredient in most dreams that never happen. I'd love to hear what your dreams, goals, or projects are that you want to experience this year and will hold your dream in my prayer file. Email me at mary@marymarcdante.com. |

"Review your year (and life).
Look at your various “roles."
What did you do well? What would you do differently?
Keep what works. Get rid of the
rest."
Tip 5: Simple.
Do more of what works and what makes you smile. Look for more
ways to do whatever you're doing with a smile. When things aren't
working, take a 16-second smile break immediately and choose to find a
way to make whatever you're doing more fun or enjoyable. Sometimes just
a smile will do it. This is one of the best tips for shifting energy. It
will surprise you by how effective it is. |
